The Age Trap

Did you know that your age is often being used against you?

The Age Trap analyzes how age can become an obstacle in fields such as work, housing, health or the media, generating disadvantages that could have been avoided. This is ageism: the age bias that affects us throughout life and that we come to direct against ourselves.

This book is for you if...

  • You want to enhance your health and well-being in older age and make the most of increased longevity.
  • You feel excluded because of your age or experience unfair age discrimination at work, in access to housing, or in your personal life.
  • You are interested in exploring how ageism affects both younger people (considered inexperienced or immature) and older people (seen as obsolete or less innovative).
  • You want to learn to challenge age stereotypes.
  • You’re looking for tools to create a world for all ages, where intergenerational connections are the norm and the potential of people is valued regardless of their age.

Combat ageism

With this book you will learn what ageism is, why it occurs and what harmful effects it has on your life and on society in general. It is more than a book; it is a set of seven tools that will allow you to identify and confront this phenomenon in your day to day

A must-read on how age shapes our lives
This book opened my eyes not only to what I experienced at work as a “young” manager, but also to the subtle and more blatant ways ageism shapes our daily lives — through stereotypes, discrimination, and limiting assumptions about what we can or cannot do. I’m grateful to the author for providing not just the language and understanding, but also practical tools to detect and challenge ageism. An essential read for anyone who wants to grasp how our age continues to influence the way we live.

Lectura necesaria

What struck me most is how the book shows that a simple question like “How old are you?” can quietly influence decisions about work, healthcare, justice and even relationships. La trampa de la edad reveals these hidden biases and offers a smart read for anyone who wants to live beyond age labels.

An illustrated children's story full of poetry.

Hugo spends the summer with his grandmother like every year and, after playing all day in the field and with the animals, he spends the evenings among his toys in the living room. One night he realizes that every toy, but also every object and every living being, is always accompanied by a dark figure. His grandmother explains that those are not figures, but shadows. Then she tells him a beautiful story: it is the sun who creates them, so that, with the inevitable and silent company that shadows create, no one feels alone. And when night falls and the sun is not there? The moon takes care of it...
